My Skin Booster Program

Common Skin Types

When it comes to taking care of your skin, the first and the most important step is to identify your skin type. Before we recommend YOUR personalised MySkin Booster Program, it's important to understand how your skin behaves and why.

Skin types are complex and ever-changing. Many factors influence your skin type, including your environment, hormones, genetic inclinations, diet, stress, and sun exposure. When determining where your skin falls in the skin type spectrum, it’s important to keep these factors in mind.

Skin Concerns

Once we ascertain your skin type, the second step is assessing and analysing your skin concerns. The most common skin concerns are as follows:

Acne-Prone skin is a skin concern that implies your skin is prone to break outs. Acne is more common in combination and oily skin types but is seen in dry skin as well. It’s caused because of the excessive production of sebum, which in turn is often caused due to hormonal changes, genetics, poor diet and skin-care regime.

Dehydrated skin is not the same as dry skin. Even oily skin can be dehydrated. Dehydration is a skin concern, caused by external factors or lifestyle choices that deplete your skin’s water content. Major symptoms of dehydrated skin are dullness, less supple skin, highlighted fine lines, itchiness and patchy areas.

One of the most common skin concerns, dull skin lacks lustre, and doesn’t have that radiant glow that most people associate with healthy skin. It’s a result of excess dead skin cells that build up on the surface of the skin. There are various factors like dead skin buildup, improper exfoliation, stress, bad eating habits, inadequate skin care, pollution etc. that cause your skin to look gray, aged and dull.

The skin’s natural ageing process begins in our mid-20s. Within the skin, collagen production slows & elastin has a bit less spring. Dead skin cells do not shed as quickly and the turnover of new skin cells decreases. Our lifestyle, genes, environment & sun-exposure also lead to skin ageing. Common signs of ageing are age spots, fine lines, dull skin, sagging skin and more sensitive skin.

Sun Damage or photoageing is the one of the biggest reasons for skin damage & ageing. People with fair skin who have a history of sun exposure develop more signs of photoageing than those with dark skin.Ultraviolet radiation in sunlight damages the elastin and collagen fibres in the skin and the skin sags, wrinkles, stretches and becomes blotchy. Wrinkles, freckles, tanning, sun-burns, sun-spots, rough skin, pigmentation etc are all signs of photoageing.

Melanin is the pigment that gives the skin its characteristic color. Various factors lead to an increase/decrease in the melanin production that causes our skin to have an uneven tone, some dark patches and some lighter patches. Genetics, hormonal imbalances, improper skin care, excessive skin exposure are the common causes of pigmentation.

What are BeYouPlus Medi Facials

Our Treatment consists of ' Fruit Extract or Enzyme-Based Peels!'

What are peels?

Peels are chemical solutions such as exfoliants(AHAs/BHAs), brightening agents, enzymes etc that are applied to your face to help exfoliate/restore your skin and remove dead skin cells. They help in managing a variety of conditions like pigmentation, sun damage, acne, wrinkles etc. A chemical exfoliating solution - Fruit based or Enzyme-based, is topically applied to the surface of the skin in order to break down and dissolve the uppermost layers of the skin's epidermal cells.

We use a variety of peels such as Glycolic, Salicylic, TCA, Lactic Acid etc. The type and strength of the solution used on your skin are dependent on a number of factors including; your skins sensitivity, your skin type, current medication and products, your present skin condition and the needs and overall desired outcomes that you wish to obtain.

Types of Peels

Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) is an oil-loving acid. BHA is preferred for oily, acne-prone skin and for treating blackheads and whiteheads. BHA can get through the oil that clogs pores and helps to normalize the lining of the pore that contributes to acne. BHA’s have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. There is only one BHA – beta hydroxy acid – more commonly known as salicylic acid.
Arginine is a basic amino acid - a part of proteins, found & produced in the human body. Arginine is contained in big quantities both in plants and in animal products; it can be derived from Brown Sugar. This amino acid has moisturising and anti-inflammatory properties and helps stimulate stimulate the production of collagen, reduce acne and improve the skin's texture & elasticity, and give it a glow.
Phenol, also known as carbolic acid, stimulates protein production, which in turn increases skin elasticity. Phenol peel is exceptionally beneficial for those with acne, scars, skin discoloration, pigmentation, sun damage, wrinkles. Carbolic acid also significantly helps to even out skin texture and skin tone. These processes lead to general skin improvement making it look younger, smoother and firmer.
A Modified Jessner peel is a popular medium-depth chemical peel that works to improve skin health by helping remove and heal skin damage that is more extensive. It was designed to remove superficial layers of the skin, dry out active acne, dislodge blackheads, and improve the overall appearance of sun-damaged, acne prone, or aging skin. Modified Jessner’s solution is a combination of resorcinol, salicylic acid, lactic acid & citric acid.
Ferulic acid is a strong anti-oxidant found in the cell walls of plants such as rice and oats and the seeds of apples and oranges. It is able to reduce signs of photo ageing, promote even skin tone by reducing hyperpigmentation, and return skin to its natural brightness. Overall skin texture is said to improve, and the treatment boosts skin hydration as well.
TCA peel is a mid-grade chemical peel that penetrates deeper layers of skin providing deep cleansing and rejuvenation. The main ingredient of the formulation is trichloroacetic acid (also known as trichloroethanoic acid).
TGA is used as a chemical depilatory and is still used as such, especially in salt forms, including calcium thioglycolate and sodium thioglycolate. TGA is the precursor to ammonium thioglycolate that is used for permanents. TGA and its derivatives break the disulfide bonds in the cortex of hair.
Derived from bitter almonds, is in the AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) family of chemical peels. Like it’s cousins Glycolic and Lactic acids, Mandelic acid improves the overall health and appearance of your skin. It has a larger molecule size which means a slower rate of surface penetration, which significantly minimises the risk and onset of redness, blistering, and other adverse reactions..
